In the Tudor times we found out that many Tudor people had black teeth , this was a sign of wealth.
Today we have completed a couple of investigations on the importance of brushing our teeth and how much sugar is in fizzy drinks.
The first investigation entailed seeing how easy it was to remove dried plaque. We used a mixer of cornflour and water to represent the plaque and we painted this on some paper pots. 1 pot was left to dry, one pot was left wet. We used a toothbrush to see how easy it was to remove ‘the plaque’. We found out it was easier to remove the wet mixture. We discussed that no cornflour was the same as brushing your teeth twice a day, wet cornflour brushing once a day and dry cornflour no brushing.
The second investigation was researching how much sugar was in a 500ml bottle of fizzy pop. We worked out how many teaspoons were in each drink by dividing 4 into the amount of grams. As 1 teaspoon equalled 4 grams. We were very shocked to see how much sugar was in some of the drinks. 7up came out on top with a massive 23 teaspoons of sugar.
