We were bursting with pride on Friday as our girls’ football team competed in the Wrexham Schools tournament. The girls were outstanding throughout the competition, winning all of their group matches:
- Madras 1-0 Ysgol ID Hooson
- Madras 1-0 Borras
- Madras 3-0 Cefn
- Madras 2-0 Deiniol
- Madras 2-1 Rofft
In the final, we faced All Saints, Gresford. After a closely fought match ended 0-0, the tournament was decided by penalties. Although we narrowly lost 3-2, we were thrilled to finish as runners-up!
For a small school to compete so successfully against much larger Wrexham schools is an incredible achievement. As runners-up, we have also secured a place representing Wrexham Schools at a Welsh tournament in Newtown next year.
We are immensely proud of every player. A huge thank you also goes to Mr Williams for coaching the team and supporting them throughout the competition.
