As part of our Chocolate topic we found out about where and when chocolate was first made. We have been learning about the Maya and Aztecs, so in our Expressive Arts lessons this week we have designed and made our own masks inspired by the masks they made.

We had a go at experimenting with Glockenspiels on Friday afternoon, thanks to Wrexham Music Cooperative. We had a lesson on tempo and dynamics and then had a go at playing Jingle Bells!

We have sessions of Independent Learning where the children access areas of the classroom. This is a chance for them to ‘show what they know’ about what we have been learning. We have started a multiplication topic in Maths. We have been making arrays to show a multiplication. We will be using TTRockstars to help learn our times tables. 

We have been creating our own rainforest artwork in the style of Henri Rousseau. We needed to create new shades of green by adding black and new tints of blue for the sky by adding white. We have done the backgrounds of our paintings.

We had a fantastic day at Chester Zoo. We saw almost all the animals there and we loved the time we spent in the tropical areas and realm of the red ape. A highlight of the morning was seeing all the Blue Morpho butterflies! I need to also say how brilliantly behaved all the children … Read more

We have been finding out about the artist Henri Rousseau. He painted rainforest and jungle scenes even though he had never visited one. We talked about what we liked and noticed about his artwork. We have been very busy creating new shades of green. We measured out green paint and then added different amounts of black. We gave each new shade its very own name.
